In New Orleans, the three Fontaine vampire siblings (Aldric, Soren, and Luc) own La Petite Mort, an adult resort that caters to the fantasy desires of a variety, not all human, customers.  Over a century ago a demonic vampire killed Soren’s wife Helena.  He has not moved on as she was his soulmate.

Desperate he offers part of his soul to Voodoo Priestess Leila Doucet to bring back his beloved.  Leila agrees but Soren must sleep with her for the next century or more and help her meet the right people in high society.  The couple visits Lush where he sees Harley Vaughn, captured by two demons, being auctioned to the highest bidder.  He believes she is his Helena and buys her, which annoys Leila.  When the pair begins to fall in love, a raging Leila plans to destroy the Fontaine brothers and Harley.

The Lords of Pleasure urban fantasy is an entertaining heated triangular romance starring the good (Harley), the bad (Soren) and the ugly (Leila).  The story line is filled with sex, sex and more sex in the city.  However, the supernatural elements never come across as genuine except in the bedroom.  Still readers will enjoy the second chance at love romance between the vamp, his soul mate and the vile witch.

Jane Brooks asks her two BFFs Suzanne Quinn and Emily Torres to accompany her to an exclusive club Aeonian that caters to the sex needs of the patrons who dress up as supernatural beings.  Although history teacher Emily is shy and doubtful about going there, Suzanne says it will be fun as guest groupie voyeurs.  They agree to come with Jane who is writing an article for L.A. Underground magazine about the club’s erotic and exotic tastes.

Marcus, Jake and Damian became BFFs as teens and remained buddies.  They frequent the Aeonian.  When the three females and three males garbed as demons meet at the club, sparks fly between them as they pair off (Jake with Suzanne, Emily with Damien and Jane with Marcus).  As the men escort their respective women into the world of BDSM, one of the males is not pretending to be a demon.

The key to this well written erotic romance is the six lead protagonists have diverse personalities though their libidos are somewhat similar.  Sheri Whitefeather moves forward with the three couples nicely yet never slows down the story line as the heat is on once the matching begins.

Hurricane Janet is predicted to be a category one when it hits the Georgia coast and barrier islands like St. Simons Island over the Labor Day weekend.  Still though St. Simons has not felt the fury of a major hurricane in ages, officials suggest people leave for the mainland though many remain on the island.

Trish and Alan Grant decide to leave when the weather begins to turn ugly.  However, one of their two children fifteen years old Sandy is missing; apparently meeting a boy she met on the internet.  With their eight years old son Lee they search for their daughter.  At the same time Air Force Hurricane Hunters Major Arlen Walker and Captain Karlyn Hill send back data from the Eyewall of the storm while they and the rest of the crew feel like The Charge of the Light Brigade; the Hurricane Center believes Janet is a category one.  However, the new information may be too late to prevent a Katrina like disaster.

With a nod to Karen Harper’s Hurricane and 1992’s Andrew, retired Weather Channel meteorologist H.W. “Buzz” Bernard provides a tense thriller as a Catastrophic storm assaults the Georgia coast.  Hurricane Janet is seen though the eyes of the Grant family battered and trapped on a resort island though the daughter angle is a bit overly melodramatic and the air force crew caught inside the Eyewall.  Exciting from the moment the cast realizes this is not the predicted Minimal Category 1, readers will root for the heroic men and women (and hiss at Walker’s incredulous cartoonish spouse), but the story line is owned by Janet.

Julia MacPherson and her friend movie assistant director Maria Baquero are staying at Baird Cottage just a short walk from Argent Castle where a movie is being shot.  Better known at least back in the States as Julia Wildthorn, author of Highland werewolf romances, she expects her trip to Scotland will end her writer’s block and she hopes to find an ancient secret box her grandfather says the family hid there.  The castle laird Ian MacNeill has been a pain in the butt but that is Maria’s problem muses Julia.

However, starting with flight delays, the trip goes awry.  A car accident leads to Ian carrying Julia into the castle.  MacNeill realizes the American he holds is a wolf just like he is.  Since she hid her heritage, he distrusts her but to his chagrin the wolf wants her.  She wants to reveal the truth though she is unsure what that is to her mate, but fears he will kick her back across the ocean.

This is a fun werewolf romance starring two likable leads and a strong support cast; mostly his clan.  The story line is fast-paced yet the refreshing scenes occur when Wildthorn goes into writer’s mode.  Fans will appreciate Terry Spear’s entertaining tale even though the wolves are more in the background than usual, but the romance between the writer and the laird is an enjoyable contemporary.

Marguerite believes her niece Drina and Harper Stoyan are life mates, but knows the latter will be in denial as his life mate Jenny died under eighteen months ago when he tried to turn her.  Drina has no problem with Harper being hers, but knows he cannot accept the concept of two life mates so shortly apart.  However, the pair better focus on living because someone wants Stephanie dead and killing two other vampires is acceptable to this unknown renegade.

This is a terrific entry in the Argeneau saga (see Born to Bite) as Lynsay Sands deftly adds humor starting with Drina’s descriptions of Tall, dark and doorstop, and includes self deprecating commentary mostly by Harper to a taut suspense thriller.  The fast-paced story line hooks the audience from the moment the heroine lands in cold Canada for the first time and never slows down as Ms. Sands provides a fabulous tale that hooks us grateful throughout.

The latest Love At Stakes (see Eat, Pray, Love) takes an intriguing spin as the Sparks mythos expands with a Banished Angel falling into the Draganesti brood; as readers know where angels tread, demons follow.  Besides the fresh romance, the overarching theme moves forward as the fight continues with some characters making their final live appearance.  Vampire Mine is a strong urban romantic fantasy with a brisk new spark to the saga.

In 1804 in London, the Woodmere sisters become concerned when their twenty-seven years old brother vampire hunter Chas vanishes.  They turn to their guardian, the Earl of Corvindale, hoping he can find Chas who they fear is in trouble due to his hazardous occupation.

Meanwhile Dracule Lord Voss Arden returns to England from the upstart colonies calling themselves the United States with news about Chas, who he believes abducted his sister.  Voss has no heart as a minion of Lucifer.  However, he is stunned when he meets one of the Woodmere sisters Angelica, who has the gift of sight.  He wants her as she makes his blood boil.  She feels the same way until she learns the nature of her beloved.  Now she feels betrayed while each share a broken heart.

The Book of the Regency Dracula is a dark historical romantic fantasy starring two star-crossed wannabe lovers.  Besides her brother never accepting a Vampire as suitable for any of his younger sisters, his species (and others) would never allow him to be with a human possessing the Gift.  Readers will enjoy this new paranormal trilogy starring a seemingly Romeo and Juliet couple in Regency England.  Colleen Gleason provides a respite for Victoria Gardella with The Vampires Voss’ dangerous tale of forbidden love.
